Foothill Country Day School is a safe, nurturing, and inclusive community. We are united in pursuing intellectual inquiry, academic excellence, integrity, and service to others. We inspire each student to become ambitious, compassionate, and courageous.

Foothill allows time for childhood to unfold safely from the kindergarten years to pre-adolescence.  We were founded as a K-8 school because of the opportunities such a model provides its students to develop the critical foundation of intellectual and social emotional skills at an age-appropriate pace, guided by adults who build relationships with students over a 9-year journey.

Children spend their years in grades K-5 developing the foundation of academic skills and concepts that become progressively more challenging in anticipation of the middle school years, while at the same time focusing on the development of critical social emotional skills such as cooperation, self-direction, and empathy.

Students in grades 6-8 have space and support as they continue to strengthen themselves academically and develop self-confidence along with skills of leadership, self-regulation, and communication, without the pressures and behavioral risks often associated with junior high environments. Once they reach 8th grade, Foothill students are true community leaders, strengthened and motivated by the knowledge that they have a responsibility to the children in the younger grades as they strive to be models of academic excellence and strong character.
