Since the founding of A Better Chance in 1963, its mission has rested on a single goal: to substantially increase the number of well-educated students of color capable of assuming positions of responsibility and leadership in American society. Through a range of programs, A Better Chance works to recruit high achieving students of color, currently in grades 4-9, to help navigate the independent school admissions process and access expanded educational opportunities. A Better Chance is able to achieve this goal by annually supporting and placing over 550 A Better Chance Scholars nationally at more than 300 of the nation’s leading boarding, day, and community school programs.
